M&C SAATCHI PR’s PASSION PASS ROUND-UP
30th October 2017
As an agency that’s driven by passion, M&C Saatchi PR gives every one of its employees an extra day off a year to dedicate to their passions. We take a look at how some of our team members have spent their passion days this summer…
Amy Sandiford-Watts, Digital Account Manager
Languages are one of my favourite passions and past times – I studied French & Spanish at university before starting my career in PR – so I spent my day signing up to refresher French lessons at the Institut Francais. With the written and oral entry tests taken care of, I start classes next month. (In fact, I’ve had plenty of opportunities to use my French and Spanish on the job already as part of my role on the marketing team, assisting our Paris and Madrid offices to ensure our social channels have a local voice in each market).
With the tests sorted in the morning, I spent the afternoon in a pilates class at one of my favourite gyms before brushing up on a little more French over a smoothie in the café. I love fitness, and particularly London’s incredible boutique gyms. In fact, thanks to M&C Saatchi PR’s dedication to passion, these are areas I’m lucky enough to be able to indulge whilst working on our Virgin Active account.
Allan Bailey, Senior Designer
I love being outside in the fresh air, so my passion pass allowed me to grab the opportunity to have as much of action packed day as possible. I spent my day paddle boarding and climbing (Not at the same time – I’m not that active!). I practiced my climbing skills at Vauxhall’s Vauxwall Climbing Centre and then headed to the river and jumped on a paddle board.
Having the opportunity to paddle board in clean rivers and seas is something that everyone should get the chance to do. With Surfers Against Sewage being one of M&C Saatchi PR’s clients I’ve enjoyed being part of campaigns that ensure this is something we’ll still be able to enjoy in years to come.
Emeka McQuade, Director
As a working dad, I sometimes don’t get to spend as much time with my son as I’d like. So on I used my passion pass to take some quality family time. We went for a walk along the South Bank and then visited the Southbank Centre’s Adventures in Moominland exhibition.
After that we took a stroll over the Thames and eventually ended up in Curve Garden in Dalston where we caught up with friends.
To cap off a wonderful day, I took some me time and went to the cinema. It’s true what people say about having kids and not getting to go: I hadn’t been to the cinema for over a year! All in all, my passion pass was great fun and a chance to reconnect with what matters most to me.
Our core agency proposition is Driven by Passion. We empower each of our staff across the world to take 1 day off in the year (excluding holiday allocation) to pursue their personal passions. This allows us to understand what drives our people beyond their CVs, and ultimately ‘passion-map’ everyone to businesses they’re genuinely passionate about working with. For example, in the last six months we’ve seen account managers who attended Europe’s best art exhibitions working on our recent House of Peroni virtual reality experience (see here) as well as a horse riding account executive jumping over to the Deezer team for our April Fools horse stunt (see here).
